they had actually met some time before their first date.  and she wasn't too impressed. but they knew someone in common and their paths crossed a few more times.  the day he called to ask her if she'd like to accompany him to the white house to see the pope she didn't realize it was actually a date.  but they spent the day together.  and then another day. and then another. and on a rainy day in early october, they promised to spend all their days together.
